Five Kids House Party Entertainment Ideas

Organising a kids party can be a difficult task. Children and more demanding than ever these days, and it can be hard to organise something which will keep not only your own child, but all of their little friends happy and entertained.

If you have a party coming up where lots of little ones will be coming over to your house, you’ll want to ensure that you have something planned that is going to keep them quiet for the few hours they are there. The last thing you want is to have children moaning and whining at you that they are bored!

So here are five ideas for entertainment at your child’s next house party.

Party games

Of course, you could start with some of the classic party games that never seem to get old. Pin the tail on the donkey, pass the parcel, musical chairs and bumps are always guaranteed to provide laughter and fun. Make sure you have plenty of these lined up, either as the main entertainment or as backup for other activities if you run out of things to do.

Hired entertainment

Or, if you are able to spend a bit more money, you could bring in a specialist kids entertainer to keep your little party occupied. Why not look for a magician to perform some tricks – bound to keep the little ones fascinated as they pull rabbits out of a hat or find coins behind their ears. Or bring in a professional balloon modeller and watch them make a whole variety of crazy items just using balloons.

Water fight

Perhaps this one needs to be supervised quite closely, and you’ll also need a warmer day to do it, but a water fight is a cheap and easy way to keep the kids busy for hours. The best thing about it is it will tire them out very quickly, so they will be happy to go home, and the fact they will sleep soundly for the whole following night will make the other parents very pleased indeed.

Dressing up/makeovers

More aimed at the girls of course – but why not get them to spend an afternoon being pampered and dressing up? Believe it or not, there are actually people trained to come in and give the girls of the party a full adult-style makeover to help them look like their favourite celebrities. Not all parents agree with using makeup on children though, so it’s best to get their permission before allowing something like this.

Movie themed party

If you are looking for something a bit more relaxed then one of the easiest ways to keep a group of kids quiet is to plonk them in front of the TV and have a themed movie afternoon. They could all dress up as different characters from a film series like Star Wars or High School Musical, depending on what they are interested in. They could then all watch the movies together. To keep them quietest for longest, find a movie series which has one film or more. Also get in popcorn, drinks and other snacks so they don’t get hungry and grumpy.
